Alleppey
Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha is an important destination in Kerala Tourism and famous for its beaches, canals, streams, backwaters and lagoons and is affectionately called the Venice of the East. Historical reminiscence show that Alleppey had one of the best ports in ancient times and trade relations existed with Greece and Rome. Alleppey backwaters and canals facilitates the center for houseboat cruises and backwater tourism in Kerala and facilities are available for houseboat cruises along the Kerala backwaters. There are Kerala Ayurveda treatment centers, Backwater hotels and resorts in Alleppey.

Alleppey Backwaters
Alleppey(Alappuzha) has a large network of canals and one of the major centres for backwater boat trips. This palace where narrow canals, rivers, lakes lagoons and land meet are aptly called "Alleppey backwaters" In this wonderful land lush green paddy fields, coconut plantation, topicana and banana, mango are cultivated four to six feet below the sea level.

Nehru Trophy Boat Race
The Nehru Trophy Boat Race named after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is conducted on the Punnamda Lake, near Alappuzha, on the second Saturday of August every year.

Krishnapuram Palace
The Krishnapuram Palace is a palace and museum located in Kayamkulam near Alappuzha in Alappuzha district, Kerala in southwestern India. It was built in the 18th century by Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma (1729–1758 AD), the Travancore kingdom. It is built in the architectural style of Kerala with gabled roof, narrow corridor and dormer windows, near the Krishnaswamy Temple at Krishnapuram

It is an eco friendly tourist center. It is accessable by boat from Alappuzha. Kayippuram jetty is just about 2km east of the Kayippuram junction on the Alappuzha - Thannirmukkam road.
